What’s a day in the life for you in your job?: A day in the life for me is reviewing R&D data, crunching financial numbers, new product development tasks, speaking with internal and external customers, and making sure we’re making the right moves to fit our customer’s needs.
What should golf course superintendents know about your company that they don’t already know? Everyone knows PBI-Gordon as a herbicide manufacturer, but we’re also becoming an industry leader in fungicides and insecticides.
When you’re gone from the golf industry, how do you want to be remembered? As the guy in the Segway Fungicide SC “Pythed Off” advertisement. That’s me in the ad (below).
If you were born 100 years ago, what would you do for a living? Probably a barkeep.
Who is your hero? He doesn’t realize this, so maybe I should tell him… my father.
Best thing about the golf industry? The people. While golf is a very competitive industry, whether you’re a superintendent, a sales representative or a product manager, everyone is very down to earth and in it for the same reason: beautiful golf courses.
Worst thing about the golf industry? Hot summers.
What golf course can’t you wait to get on and why? The Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club. I’ve never been to Dubai.
Describe golf course superintendents in one word? Modest.
Who would you rather play golf with –– Arnie or Jack? Why? Jack. He is the greatest of all time.
If you were a superhero, who would you be and why? Mr. Incredible. Insurance claims by day and superhero by night. What’s not great about that?
What do you like to do away from your job? I must spend some time at the gym, but more importantly, spending time with my children and my girlfriend.
What is your all-time favorite song? “Chiron” by All That Remains
What’s your favorite movie and why? “Shawshank Redemption.” The movie plot is fantastic and the characters are amazing.
Speaking of movies, who’s your favorite character from “Caddyshack” and why? Lacy Underall. I think the name says it all.
