Bobby Walls, Ph.D., received the Southern Weed Science Society’s Fellow Award, which recognizes members who have made significant contributions to the Southern Weed Science Society. He is the Product Development Manager for FMC Professional Solutions.
At FMC, Dr. Walls works with researchers to develop new products to solve weed problems in turf and landscapes. His career has focused on agricultural research to discover and develop products to improve production of food, fiber, materials for shelter and aesthetic value of landscape.
Among his accomplishments, Dr. Walls hold five patents for currently used pesticides and is a Certified Professional Agronomist by the American Society of Agronomy. At Southern Weed Science Society, his service includes being the chair of the Membership, Necrology and Continuing Education Committees, chair of the Agronomic Section, member of numerous other committees, a session moderator and graduate student contest judge. In addition, Dr. Walls has published 38 abstracts in the SWSS proceedings focusing on weed science and pest management in Agronomic and Horticultural crops.
SWSS Fellow Award winners must have contributed substantially to the success of his or her company, university or government agency and have advanced the discipline of weed science in the southern region. He or she must have been active in the organization for 20 or more years.
