Cub Cadet will unveil a robotic greens mower for golf courses at the Golf Industry Show on Feb. 25-26. The RG3 mower is Cub Cadet’s entry into the golf market as it provides the industry with a mower that delivers on productivity and quality.
By using proprietary positioning technology, the RG3 with Precise Path technology moves precisely and safely across the green, traveling in straight lines and along the perimeter without the need of a human operator. It allows for mowing and rolling in a single pass with consistent overlap, delivering consistent and repeatable cuts every time, so every green is mowed exactly the same way.
Since operation of the RG3 is autonomous, golf course superintendents can reallocate manpower to other important areas of the course.
John Shaw, Certified Golf Course Superintendent at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, Pennsylvania, has been working with two RG3s since July 2014.
“The RG3’s impact to our putting greens has exceeded my expectations,” he said.” We are achieving higher clipping yield, more consistent green speeds and smoother putting surfaces with less manpower.”
According to Shaw, it also allows him to pay more attention to other detailed tasks.
Precise Path was recently acquired by MTD Products, which is the parent company of Cub Cadet and other brands.
