MSMA Isn't Going Anywhere

Herbicide can be used for three to four more years

MSMA has come back from the dead.

The Organic Arsenical Products Task Force (OAPTF) recently announced that MSMA applications labeled for use on golf courses will be extended "well beyond the proposed phase-out date" - probably three to four years - until a new National Academy of Sciences review on inorganic arsenic is completed.

Sale of MSMA for golf course use was to have been terminated on Dec. 31 as originally called for in a 2009 agreement between the OAPTF and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Use of MSMA on golf courses after Dec. 31, 2013, was to be prohibited.

MSMA is already banned for golf course use in Florida.
