Supertrencher+ to the Rescue

The Supertrencher+ from Port Industries has a two-speed digging wheel, enabling it to work at high speed for hard/dry conditions, or more slowly for work in wetter soils. The digging wheel is aligned with the center of the tractor. The hydraulic depth control is adjusted manually or by laser. Excavated soil is elevated via two conveyors into a trailer or dump truck running alongside. The main conveyor is hinged to lie against the side of the machine for easier transport. An inspection port allows for easy access to the wheel and for changing the tungsten carbide cutters.

Go Underground

Reelcraft has introduced an underground watering system designed to make hand watering natural and artificial turf quicker and more efficient. Hoses are conveniently stored underground on a reel and retrieved via a small opening when needed. This allows for faster responses in urgent situations, such as extreme heat stress. The spring-driven hose reel system features up to 100 feet of 5/8-inch I.D. or 75 feet of .75-inch hose. Simply pull on the pressurized hose to the desired length to water and retract the hose back underground when finished.

Dewatering Pumps

The HYD-3D and HYD-2D dewatering pumps from TrunkPump are powered by skid steer remote hydraulics or other hydraulic power sources with 9 to 30 GPM and 1,200 PSI minimum. The 3 and 2-inch models come in a compact roll cage configuration with camlock pump fittings, hydraulic flow regulating manifold and 8-foot hydraulic hoses with male and female flush-face quick-disconnect couplings. The pumps weigh 75 pounds, are self-priming to 25 feet and have a built-in check valve.

Dethatch at Deep Depths

The Sisis Rotorake 602 from C.S. Trading is a heavy-duty dethatcher that has shallow settings for regular use and can also work at deeper depths when required. It contributes to aeration and compaction relief by cutting clean, continuous slits to assist water and air absorption, and it improves the integration of topdressing. The unit can be fitted with an integral seeder attachment and features “no-tool” depth control, optional blades and spacers, and six forward gears and reverse for ease of use and maneuverability. It is powered by a 14 hp gas engine, giving independent drive to reels and wheels.

T-Zone for Weed Control

T-Zone herbicide from PBI/Gordon provides postemergent broadleaf weed control in cool-season turfgrasses. It contains four active ingredients: triclopyr, sulfentrazone, 2,4-D and dicamba. Sulfentrazone is a protox inhibitor that works by preventing a key enzyme required for chlorophyll production; and provides suppression of young and actively growing yellow nutsedge. T-Zone provides visible activity in hours, and weed death can occur within 7 to 14 days. The oil-based formula cuts through tough cuticles to control weeds like wild violet, ground ivy, black medic, oxalis, clover, spurge, speedwell and lespedeza. The low-odor formulation has improved cool-weather performance, and it is rain-fast in as little as three hours.

Tower Herbicide

BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals launched Tower herbicide, featuring dimethenamid-P, a new active ingredient for the turf market. It provides preemergent control of more than 50 small-seeded grassy and broadleaf weeds and sedges, including goosegrass and yellow nutsedge. It can be applied to cool and warm-season turfgrass on tees, fairways, roughs and other amenity turfgrass around common areas on the golf course. For added weed control, Tower can be tank-mixed with Pendulum AquaCap herbicide. It is labeled for use on golf courses, except on greens.
