The Cutting Edge

Petro-Canada Lubricants, maker of CIVITAS, has released new CIVITAS ONE to the U.S. market. It incorporates the same research-proven disease and insect suppression CIVITAS is known for - all in one easy, ready-to-use formulation. CIVITAS ONE premixes the synthetic isoparaffin and harmonizer in a 2.5-gallon jug, which superintendents can expect to protect about 18,800 to 37,600 square feet at label rates. Like the two-step CIVITAS, new CIVITAS ONE delivers self-sustained turf that's healthier, stronger and better able to protect itself from disease, insects and the elements. CIVITAS ONE is now available for use in the U.S. for both cool- and warm-season turf diseases and insects. CIVITAS is absorbed by the plant and activates several processes that boost immunity and improve overall turf quality. It offers the total turf health benefits of both induced systemic resistance and systemic acquired resistance, including earlier green-up in the spring; stronger root growth and more efficient root structure, resulting in less inputs required; improved drought resistance; and quicker recovery from damage.

Triple-Function Tank

Turfco introduced the optional 3-in-1 Auxiliary Tank for its T3000i spreader/sprayer. It fits securely on the front of the T3000i without obstructing the view or inhibiting the hands-free speed control system. It increases the spray capacity of the T3000i to 31 gallons. Using the same liquid in the 15-gallon auxiliary tank and the 16-gallon primary tank enables the operator to spray up to 124,000 square feet. The second task the 3-in-1 tank tackles is spraying two different liquids. Having the capacity to spray two liquids makes it simple to spray separate areas without switching equipment. The secondary liquid can be sprayed with the additional front-mount spray nozzle for the auxiliary tank, which sprays in 6 or 9-foot widths. Third, the 3-in-1 tank includes a hand wand for spraying in a smaller, more confined area.

John Deere Water Filters

John Deere Water announced the availability of the John Deere F Series Metal Filters to North American customers. The F Series Metal Filters are designed using the latest technology and highest-quality materials to provide increased dependability, performance and efficiency in water filtration in different types of irrigation systems. The series includes the F1000, F3200, F3300 and F3400 models. All filters with hydraulic parallel automatic suction-type screens use a unique continuous linear movement (CLM) mechanism, which eliminates the need for pistons to change cleaning direction. The metal filters have large sintered screens that provide a larger filtration area and four layers of screen strength. Self-adjusting nozzles and brushes are standard on all John Deere automatic electric suction screen and brush filters for maximum cleaning effectiveness.

The New Eco 200

The ECO 200 topdresser from Ecolawn is completely self-propelled and highly maneuverable, even up steep and uneven grades. Adjustments to mechanical systems are simple and require very basic hand tools, and multiple grease fittings are easily accessible to assure long bearing life. The unit is ideal for a wide variety of materials, including sand, topsoil, compost, calcite clay and crumb rubber.

New AGM Battery

Trojan Battery Co. has added a new 140AH 12-AGM battery to its product family. The 12-AGM is ideal for applications that require maintenance-free battery power, such as in remote areas where proper maintenance cannot be guaranteed. Trojan's deep-cycle AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries feature a number of design elements to provide optimum performance. Robust plates extend the life cycle. A separator of glass fibers serves to isolate the positive and negative plates while acting as a blotter to absorb the electrolyte. The separator is maintained under compression between plates to assure contact with the plate surfaces, resulting in reliable power generation. A computer-generated, low-calcium grid design is optimized for high power density, and allows for reduced gas emissions. Trojan's deep-cycle AGM batteries are tolerant of low temperatures, resistant to shock and vibration, and have a low internal resistance for higher discharge current and high charging efficiency.

Versatile Tiller

The Masport Home Gardener from Seago is designed primarily as a 17-inch wide, shaft-driven tiller. It is lightweight, versatile and easy to use. Powered by a 127cc Briggs & Stratton engine and weighing 81 pounds, the wheelbarrow design allows for simple controls. It can tackle any soil with ease. In addition to the tiller, the Home Gardener can be equipped with a garden aerator, edger blade and cleaning brush. These attachments can be purchased individually or as a discounted package.

Save Time

Jacobsen launched the TrueSet cutting unit, a new product that will make Jacobsen mowers even faster and easier to adjust. The bulk of the time savings provided by the cutting unit comes from an innovative bedknife-to-reel adjustment. Technicians fine-tune the TrueSet bedknife-to-reel adjustment at two points with a gear that moves the bedbar one thousandth of an inch with an audible click. The adjustment is made from the top and front of the cutting unit with a .5-inch wrench, the same tool used for height-of-cut adjustment. This makes the new cutting unit much easier to reach and reduces the number of tools needed to make adjustments. The unit also provides 425 pounds of holding force.

Keep it Clean

Netafim USA introduced Apollo Disc-Kleen Filters, new high-capacity water filtration systems designed for use with both dripline and overhead irrigation. Featuring a multilevel filtration process, Apollo removes sand, particles, algae and other organic materials from water sources such as lakes, ponds, reservoirs, canals, rivers and reclaimed water systems. A wide range of models is available, depending on the size of the irrigation system and the number of filters required. Mesh screen densities from 80 to 140 can be specified, depending on water quality. All filter system materials are noncorrosive to prevent rusting from chemicals and weather. The Apollo manifold, filter body and cover are fabricated from high-density polypropylene; the backflush valve is constructed from cast iron; and the discs from polypropylene.
